ClifNotes 11
February 2002

This is our schedule for 2002: April – Italy, May – Holland, Denmark and U.K. June in Holland, France and Germany. In the last week of July we are excited to offer a 7 day retreat in Assisi, Italy, near the birthplace of St Francis – this will be very very special – book early for that. September in Denmark. You’ll find the complete list of trainings, talks and workshops in our web page www.intention-in-action.com

Also in www.intention-in-action.com you can read the “Paradox of the Exceptional Helper” a chapter on my work in the doctoral thesis of Dr Linda Edwards accepted by Monash University, Australia.

This is the Chinese year of the Horse. The Horse is a highly intelligent, noble animal. A good worker, excellent at teamwork and a faithful friend, often running with joy and using his/her energy for helping others.

In the Bhagavad-Gita we find: “The only true path to personal development is through service to others.”
To the Buddhist: “As much as you can, make only skilful actions.”
In the Talmud: “Every day, say with your lips, ‘I don’t know’.”
Eknath Easwaran: “One of the unmistakable signs of spiritual awareness is the cheerful capacity to say, ‘I was wrong,’ and it will save us a lot of trouble in life if we can make that very daring statement, ‘I don’t know’.” *

So our concern is to make our actions skilful. Here in Australia we have been confronted with the horrendous treatment of adult and children asylum seekers by the ignorant and utterly inhumane government. For up to two years they have been holding these people in barren detention centres in desert heat up to 47 degrees. It wasn’t until the refugees went on a hunger strike that the general public became aware of their suffering. Galina and I couldn’t remain just observers of their despair and our impulse led us to appeal to the immigration minister’s humanity. We sent him a fax suggesting he might leave a better history behind himself if he acted with compassion.

We were not concerned whether our friends joined us or not - our inner knowing told us we were acting correctly.

At the same time we transmitted an intention of balance and appropriateness.

It was a perfect opportunity for both of us to practice INTENTION IN ACTION.

We believe that in challenging times everyone is given an opportunity to exercise ‘practical spirituality’.

We are the first generation in history who are able to tap into the enormous pool of information spread all over the world. Many of us went through the period of the sixties, seventies and eighties, when ‘working on oneself’ was the general cry, now it is time to use the intellectual knowledge we accumulated by serving others. You can study the mind endlessly but it may not lead to anything useful.

Pema Chodron: We can lead our life so as to become more awake to who we are or what we are doing, rather than trying to improve or change or get rid of who we are or what we 're doing. Our brilliance, our spiciness, is all mixed up with our craziness and our confusion, and therefore it doesn't do any good to try to get rid of our so-called negative aspects, because in that process we also get rid of our basic wonderfulness.

Many people are feeling frustrated by their inability to find what to do about the destruction of the environment by globalization – here is the Taoist way to think. It is always possible to find that there is some benefit in any event however negative it appears. Therefore if we consider the all-time record cold summer here in Australia and the floods and unusually cold European summer, is a demonstration that Gaia – the planet’s soul – is working to cool herself down – neutralizing the effects of global warming. It doesn’t mean we don’t have to do anything about it – she needs all the help she can get, but you can stop panicking!!

Before the smile rises to your lips I want to tell you I have just been reading an old book about the life of the genius inventor, Nikola Tesla – the man who shaped the 20th century. Among thousands of inventions such as electrical motors, radar and neon signs he experimented with resonant oscillations – the power of vibrations. In 1899 he almost destroyed an entire district of New York when he attached an oscillator to a steel pillar in his laboratory. For blocks around windows were shattered and the nearby police station began to crumble before he realized what was happening and managed to switch off the device.

As the outcome of the experiment he saw that the wave forces of the planet could be used to bring free energy to every single person in the world. He was blocked from doing this by J.P. Morgan (the investor) and George Westinghouse whose company went on to make billions through building nuclear power plants.

Tesla also became convinced that focused thoughts could create high oscillations which would then be transmitted throughout the world. A simple demonstration he used was to make small waves in a bathtub. The wave begins gently then echoes back and forth from the side of the bathtub with ever increasing frequency. Although he was the ultimately practical person he declared that thought-forms can be sent out as waves to the ends of the earth.

My intuition tells me that this is part of what is happening when we are broadcasting Intentional Healing to someone who may be far away.

I have developed some amazing experiments that we will do this year in our trainings in Europe. Tesla (who Einstein once said made his own work possible) made the point that we are all able to access these vibrations and alter the survival chances of us all.

Remember the horse teams of past centuries? The huge Belgian draught horses, tiny Icelandic ponies and the gloriously massive Clydesdales built roads, bridges and buildings could not have been created without them. If we would only work as teams as they did - we can make enormous changes. We can also learn from the horse how to be attuned to earth’s natural vibrations.

Teamwork can produce ‘miracles’.

In Tibet there is clear evidence that combinations of teamwork, certain vibrations and focused intention, can lift mountains. While there, I saw monasteries perched on craggy places where no block of stone could have been carried from the valleys up the narrow pathways. Yet these stones are the solid foundations of the temples. Teams of hundreds of monks, chanting, blowing trumpets and beating drums created the vibrations which lifted tons of rock up the sheer walls. Tesla would have understood their method.

Who would love to try something like that? I would for one! Let’s go for it!!!!
